Rasaratna Samuccaya, also known as Rasaratna Samuchaya, is a scientific text written during the Tantric period in India. The text contains detailed descriptions of various complex metallurgical processes.
There are several opinions about the origin and exact date of the book, however many agree that it was not written beyond 8 AD. The text itself deals with mainly two aspects – Deha vidya and Loha vidya, the science of handling metals and the science of prolonging life (or medical science). The text deals with the processing of mercury and its use in various combinations with other herbs to achieve desired effects. Many other minerals and herbs are examined, studied minutely and used for processing mercury, transforming it into effective remedies and potions.
