Dr. Benjamin Dykes produces essential new translations of traditional astrology texts for modern students. Persian Nativities II contains a new translation of 'Umar al-Tabari's Three Books of Nativities, and a first English translation of Abu Bakr's On Nativities. These influential books contain rare material on pregnancy, character, illness and profession, and 'Umar's annual predictive methods.
About the authors:
'Umar al-Tabarī was in the first generation of Persian astrologers writing in Arabic. A colleague of Māshā'allāh's, his work was well respected by medieval astrologers up through the Renaissance.
Three Books of Nativities is a new translation of 'Umar's famous work, and is suitable for beginners. Books I and II have been reorganized using other Persian works as models, to create a fluid and clear treatment of longevity and annual predictive methods. Students will appreciate his simple and direct approaches to house delineation.
Abū Bakr was a 9th Century astrologer well known for his treatment of pregnancy, character, illness and professions, with much material not found elsewhere. His On Nativities is a key work for traditional astrologers. MsSVig
