    Tarthang Tulku - Openness Mind

This comes from the Nyingma Psychology Series printed by Dharma Publishing.

    Excerpt from Foreword:

To the extent that the reader is drawn into what may be termed 'applied Buddhism', the reader will note that the book, in its progression from chapter to chapter, is a 'trail guide'. The field through which it points the way is the rich and intricate nature of man. In thus being a guide, the book is very traditional in the sense that it restates the fact that man is capable of growth and that growth is a continuous process of expansion into ever-widening horizons. It is also like climbing a mountain peak where we have to watch every step in moving tip, while simultaneously being taken in by breath-taking views. Such 'guides' have been known as lam-rim (Stages on the Path) in Tibet, and an extensive literature on this subject has been preserved.

The earliest work of this kind is attributed to Guru Padmasambhava, a person whose historicity has been overshadowed by myths and legends, all of which attest to the impact his presentation of Buddhist ideas has had on those who came under their spell. What distinguishes his work (as well as those works that developed in the tradition initiated by him and known as the Nyingma order) from the works of the same nature in other schools of thought, is the vividness of presentation. It is the presentation of lived-through experience, not a stale piling up of quotations from canonical texts. The same vividness and directness the reader will find in this book whose author is one of the foremost Nyingma scholars.

Openness Mind has been written for those who dare to ask questions which touch on the meaning of life, and it has taken form from out of such questions asked. Needless to point out that the title itself is a challenge - to open up ourselves is to have mind restored to its creative openness. Openness Mind certainly points the way in that direction.
      ~ Herbert V. Geunther

    Excerpt from Preface:

Meditation is the common ground of many and varied interests. It is a vast and complex subject, aimed at the development of an understanding of the mind, an understanding which we can carry into the whole of our experience. Meditation is not a withdrawal from life, it is an extension: we can take it with us to enrich whatever we do, wherever we go. This concept is basic to the Nyingma teachings, which are designed to provide inner strength and self-reliance. . .

When we have understanding of the nature of the mind, we can approach the problem of life with a sureness and integrity that give a wholesome quality to all we do. We interrelate smoothly and flowingly with the world around us.

By means of meditation we can teach our minds to be calm and balanced; within this calmness is a richness and a potential, an inner knowledge which can render our lives boundlessly satisfying and meaningful. We can tap the healing qualities of our minds. While the mind may be what traps us in unhealthy patterns of stress and imbalance, it is also the mind which can free us.

Within the mind we can find the sense of purpose and the abilities which can bring meaning to our lives. We can learn to deal readily and effectively with what have seemed to he insolvable problems, by bringing to them the simple techniques we learn in meditation. The mind can become a familiar and useful tool which we can put to use for the enrichment of our experience. In this way, as we bring balance to our inner environment, our outer environment becomes balanced as well. We learn self-reliance, the natural freedom of mind.

A belief that the ancients held unusual scientific knowledge, of which only fragments remain today, was held by many great philosophers and scientists who participated in the "scientific revolution". Though research by these men led to great discovery, many were convinced that they were merely scratching the surface of an immense but lost pristine knowledge (prisca sapientia) somehow reflected in the architecture and remains of ancient civilizations.

In "Temple at the Center of Time: Investigations of Sacred Dimension, Revealed in Prophecy, the Temple of Jerusalem, and the Ark of the Covenant, from the works of Isaac Newton", David Flynn uncovers what is sure to be heralded as one of the greatest discoveries of all time.

Many books have investigated whether Newton believed that an original pure knowledge existed. Some conclude that he did in fact search for it, but that is the whole of their investigation. A few have written that Newton actually discovered ‘something’ and try to fit his existing research into a prisca sapientia of their own design, claiming his beliefs fit modern realms of philosophy or eastern religions, but these speculations are not upheld by the body of his work. Although Newton had solved riddles of space, time, gravity, light and invented mathematics to predict the motion of objects, this was not the ‘priscia sapienta’. Since the time of Newton, no one has revealed the true form and nature of the original knowledge, or from whence it came… until now.

For the first time in history, "Temple at the Center of Time" uncovers what Newton was looking for and, in so doing, proves that pivotal events in history are unquestionably connected in time and space to Jerusalem.

Newton didn't know it. The key was right in front of him. MsSVig

Witchcraft, astrology, divination and every kind of popular magic flourished in England during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, from the belief that a blessed amulet could prevent the assaults of the Devil to the use of the same charms to recover stolen goods. At the same time the Protestant Reformation attempted to take the magic out of religion, and scientists were developing new explanations of the universe. Keith Thomas's classic analysis of beliefs held on every level of English society begins with the collapse of the medieval Church and ends with the changing intellectual atmosphere around 1700, when science and rationalism began to challenge the older systems of belief.

    Book Description:

The book explores the deep, internal work necessary for the effective practice of tai chi

    • Reveals the Taoist principles that gave birth to the Yang-style tai chi forms

    • Shows how tai chi can circulate powerful healing energies through the body

Taoist adepts developed tai chi as both a martial art and a way to cultivate their physical body, energy body, and spirit body. Like all Taoist exercises, its main purpose is to form a connection to the basic energy that is the foundation of all life: chi. Until the beginning of the twentieth century, tai chi was considered a secret practice that was passed down only within a closely knit structure of family and loyal disciples. Despite its widespread growth in popularity as a martial art and health exercise, many of its underlying internal practices remain unknown.

Designed for practitioners at every level, the book contains step-by-step illustrated instructions for mastering the 13 forms of early Yang-style tai chi, also known as Tai Chi Chi Kung. The authors demonstrate the relationship of the inner structure of tai chi to the absorption, transformation, and circulation of the three forces that animate all life--the Universal force, the Cosmic force, and the Earth force--revealing the principles and practices necessary to receive the full spectrum of physical, psychological, and spiritual benefits that tai chi can bring. In the previous uploaded groundbreaking book, Knight shows how the Qabalah and its basic diagram, the Tree of Life, is a system of relationships among mystical symbols that can be used to gain access to the hidden reaches of the mind. He also demonstrates how the Qabalah is applicable to all mystical traditions and religious beliefs, including Christian mysticism, Greek, Egyptian and Celtic mythologies, and even Native American beliefs. It is indeed symbolic of our universal search for the Divine.

Included here is book one which compares the Western Mystery Tradition with the Eastern system of yoga, analyzes the Tree of Life in full detail, and describes the practical application and theories of Qabalistic symbolism.

The second one which I'm uploading now gives the most comprehensive analysis ever published of the twenty-two 'Paths of Concealed Glory' that join the Spheres of the Tree of Life taking into account the Hebrew alphabet, astrological signs, and tarot trumps. A large section explores the history of tarot design and the varying systems of correspondence with the Tree of Life

This pdf already exist with two scanned pages per PDF page. This makes it less readable on a smartphone/tablet.  So I OCR'ed it and made it look the same as the hardcopy. This way the size is much less and quality is better due to bigger font.

Jiddu Krishnamurti and David Bohm - The Ending of Time (Dialogue)

    Quote:

    From http://www.amazon.com/Ending-Time-Dialogue-J-Krishnamurti/dp...

This very important work offers penetrating dialogues between the great spiritual leader and the renowned physicist that shed light on the fundamental nature of existence. Krishnamurti and David Bohm probe such questions as ‘why has humanity made thought so important in every aspect of life? How does one cleanse the mind of the ‘accumulation of time’ and break the ‘pattern of ego -centered activity’?The Ending of Time concludes by referring to the wrong turn humanity has taken, but does not see this as something from which there is no escape. There is an insistence that mankind can change fundamentally; but this requires going from one’s narrow and particular interests toward the general, and ultimately moving still deeper into that purity of compassion, love and intelligence that originates beyond thought, time, or even emptiness.

    C. O. Zuretti, Catalogue des manuscrits alchimiques grecs, vol.8: Alchemistica Signa, Brussels, Union Académique Internationale, 1932.

This is volume 8 of the Catalogue des manuscrits alchimiques grecs, an early 20th century listing of all alchemical manuscripts in European collections. In this last volume of the Catalogue, Zuretti compiled all the alchemical symbols he could find in the manuscripts and gave available translations. Unfortunately, all commentaries are in Latin. The symbols are still there, with their Greek translations. The book also includes pictures of the pages of the manuscripts containing lists of symbols, or symbols included in text. MsSVig

Marion Woodman & Elinor Dickson - Dancing in the Flames, The Dark Goddess in the Transformation of Consciousness

    Quote:

    From http://www.amazon.com/Dancing-Flames-Marion-Woodman/dp/15706...

Dark, earthy, and immensely powerful, the Black Goddess has been a key force in world history, manifesting in images as diverse as the Indian goddess Kali and the Black Madonnas of medieval Europe. She embodies the energy of chaos and creativity, creation and destruction, death and rebirth. Images of Her, however, have been conspicuously missing in the Western world for centuries—until now, when awareness of the Goddess is re-arising in many spheres, from the women's movement to traditional religion, from the new discoveries of quantum physics to the dreams of ordinary men and women. Why now particularly? The answer provided by Marion Woodman and Elinor Dickson is bold and thrilling: the reemergence of the Divine Feminine in our time indicates our readiness to move to an entirely new level of consciousness. The reemerging Goddess calls for a shattering of rigid categories, a willingness to hold opposition. She calls us to marry reason and order to creativity, and to embrace the chaos that can ultimately lead to wisdom and transformation on personal and global levels.

Embrosewyn Tazkuvel - Auras: How to See, Feel & Know

    From the introduction:

    Quote:

Anyone with vision out of both eyes, can begin seeing the radiating energy aura surrounding every person, usually within just 5 - 10 minutes of training, even if they are wearing glasses or contacts. That comes as a surprise to many people who assumed or have been told that seeing auras takes special psychic abilities or spiritual gifts. Having psychic prowess or spiritual oneness may help you see them in greater color quicker, but the basic ability to see auras has nothing to do with special talents. It simply requires an easy, short practice to learn how to manipulate the focusing parts of your eyes called rods and cones, and then to recognize what you are seeing and not ignore it.

Everything, both the living and inanimate, have auras. Energy fields of one type or another surround all living things and objects of every kind. People wonder how this can be. How can a rock or a dead leaf have an aura? It begins with the atomic structure. Even a rock, or a deceased person, animal or plant, are still composed of atoms which are made up of protons and electrons in constant motion. This creates a very faint aura even on rocks and minerals.

    Book Description
    Publication Date: September 3, 2012
"Auras: How to See, Feel & Know", is like three books in one! It is an entertaining read as Embrosewyn Tazkuvel recalls his early childhood and high school experiences seeing auras and the often humorous reactions from everyone including his mother and his friends when he told them what he saw.

"Auras: How to See, Feel & Know", is also a very complete training manual to help you quickly be able to see Auras in vibrant color. It includes 17 eye exercises and dozens of pictures, to enable anyone with vision in both eyes to begin seeing vividly colored auras around any person. The secret is in retraining the focusing parts of your eyes to see things that have always been there but you have never been able to see before. It's really not complicated. Anyone can do it using Embrosewyn's proven techniques and eye exercises. The author, Embrosewyn Tazkuvel, has been seeing brightly colored auras for over fifty years and teaching others to begin seeing auras within 5 minutes for the last 15 years. "Auras: How to See, Feel & Know", includes all the power techniques, tools and eye exercises from his popular workshops.

Additionally, there is a fascinating chapter on body language. Embrosewyn teaches in his workshops to not just rely on your interpretation of the aura alone, but to confirm it with another indicator such as body language. "Auras: How to See, Feel & Know", goes in depth with thorough explanations and great pictures to show you all the common body language indicators used to confirm what someone's aura is showing you.

"Auras: How to See, Feel & Know", was first published in September 2012, but it is quickly shooting to the top of many bestseller lists because it's a fun book to read, and the proven techniques pioneered by Embrosewyn Tazkuvel really work to help anyone, even complete disbelievers, to begin seeing auras within 5 minutes!

    About the Author
Embrosewyn Tazkuvel is the founder of the worldwide Celestine Light movement. Often called the "reluctant prophet", he shuns the limelight and has never yet granted an interview to traditional news outlets and very seldom to non-traditional ones. When asked why, he explains, "I do not wish to be put up on a pedestal because of the books that have come through me. In the case of the 'Revelation Bible of Celestine Light', I was merely the scribe dutifully recording everything I witnessed and heard. The lost teachings found within the Revelation Bible are profound and it is those that I hope people will focus on. The uplifting, life-changing effects the teachings in this book can have are because of the life examples and the words spoken by the people in the book, not because of the messenger." Though the lyrical writing style and moving expositions on life's challenges presented in '22 Steps to the Light of Your Soul' have been compared to the classic book The Prophet, by Kalil Gibran, Embrosewyn also demurs the accolades for his modern classic. He explains, "In a book like the 22 Steps to the Light of Your Soul' every sentence could be a quote on your wall. The words uplift you, they motivate you, they call you to be the great person you truly have the potential to become. I suppose I am a good example, for the words that so uplift, and the lyrical writing style that so entrances and moves the heart, those are far beyond my normal capabilities. But as David McKay once said, "there is something great within every person calling for something greater." If I have discovered some of the keys that will help others unlock those magical doors to their potential that is as great a reward as I could ever ask or hope."

The Secret Stream: Christian Rosenkreutz and Rosicrucianism
    Rudolf Steiner, Christopher Bamford

The Secret Stream was a excellant series of essays on Rosicrucianism and Alchemy, and also the esoteric history of mankind. To the nominal reader, it may be overwhelming, but to those interested in profundus, the deep rather than the superficial or materialistic wont, and having some experience with the concepts of Alchemy and Rosicrucianism, the book has quality even if its not taken by faith alone, and I do not believe anything taken on faith alone reflects much on the reader who seeks veritas or truth. It is a series of essays by Stiener, who is a German Scholar in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and invested great effort in the idea of spiritualism[though under many nomen], or the idea that, matter being a receptive apparent quality that is founded upon a more active essential component and is transcendent or rather transcends the superficial, apparenent sensually. Stiener writes as a scholar, and thinks as a scholar, and one of the themes, as there are many is that, around the late parts of the 13th century, mankind embraced materialism, the separation of science and religion and the devaluing of essential thinking, which had ramifications inwardly, or created a threshold of experience which limited total percipience but fomented the maturation of the facility of reason within man, thus it was neccessitated. In that scheme, Rosicrucianism and ALchemy were fomented actively, intentionally, to develope a modality of integrating love into knowledge or knowledge to the cross respectively, or rather balancing the apathetic tendancies of pure reason with its balance compassion. It also considers Rosicrucion methodology as Steiner saw it, investigated Geothe and some of the initial documents of Rosicrucianism and its symbology. A good book, I do not quite do it service it is due, as it's been a month since I finished it. MsSVig

This book is a collaboration between Wang Ju-Yi, one of modern China’s most respected scholars, teachers, and practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, and his American apprentice and practitioner, Jason Robertson.

While most textbooks focus either on the functions of the organs in basic physiology or on the uses of the channels in treatment, this book shows the essential relationships between the two. Theory and practice are connected through a detailed discussion of a channel palpation methodology developed by Dr. Wang, which leads to more precise and effective point selection, location, and technique.

Applied Channel Theory in Chinese Medicine was developed during Mr. Robertson’s apprenticeship with Dr. Wang in Beijing, and is presented in a unique and highly readable format that preserves the intimacy of dialogue between apprentice and teacher, with questions and answers, narratives, and case studies. Why do we obsess over something we want, worry about keeping what we have, or long to get it back once it’s gone? Why do we insist that someone love us, even if he or she clearly does not? Why do we go through life burdened by guilt, clinging to the past or worried about the future? We waste so much time feeling jealous, insecure, angry, and depressed. And at our lowest moments, we sometimes feel that if life is a gift, we’d just as soon return it. These recurring themes, so often cleverly hidden within our modern-day problems, strongly resonate with the precious Dharma teachings of 2,500 years ago. The author, who has answered hundreds of worldwide requests for personal advice, employs simple and straightforward dialogue in an easy-to-read Q&A format. Responding to some of our most universal questions, she illuminates the underlying causes of our difficulties, and demonstrates how ancient Dharma teachings continue to create unique opportunities for awakening our true potential. If you’d like to re-discover your smile and live a happier life, this book is for you. If you’re simply searching for a deeper understanding of yourself and others, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Why is astrology both so appealing and so maligned? Orthodox religion proclaims it to be heretical and demonic. Philosophers consider it to be superstitious and uncritical. Scientists object to it as being presumably unverifiable. All these objections, however, are self-serving. This is not to say that such objections should be disregarded, but the mental attitudes from which they emanate ought to be evaluated within the context of the larger debate to which they contribute. Using the controversial figure of "The Wickedest Man in the World" - Aleister Crowley - as a focal point, this book provides a tremendous contribution both to the body of available data and to the manner in which such data may be evaluated.
